Early Winter Vacations Considered For Primary Classes in Kashmir
Srinagar, 23 Nov: In a significant development, the divisional administration in Kashmir is contemplating the announcement of early winter vacations for kindergarten and primary classes.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, discussed the necessity for comprehensive planning in light of changing weather conditions within the academic session.
The government is considering an early declaration of winter vacations due to the weather changes, with the formal announcement expected in the coming days.
The vacation is anticipated to be phased, starting with primary classes, followed by middle-level and senior secondary classes. This aims to minimize disruptions at various educational levels.
The intention is to continue primary classes only for the current week, pending formal confirmation. Bidhuri acknowledged the disparity in heating arrangements in schools and emphasized the importance of balancing the declaration of vacation with ensuring minimal impact on students’ academic sessions.
Parents are expressing concerns about children’s health during morning commutes in frigid weather, leading to a surge in respiratory infections and mumps among school children.
Medical experts attribute this to the prevailing cold weather, prompting recommendations for the closure of schools for kindergarten and primary-level students.
The Meteorological Department issued an advisory, urging school-going children and the elderly to wear masks in the morning due to dust, pollution, and foggy weather.
Principal Secretary School Education Department, Alok Kumar, confirmed that the winter vacation for primary and lower classes is under consideration and will be announced shortly, addressing the persistent demand amid the abrupt onset of cold weather in Kashmir.Facebook or follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
