Important Advisory Issued for School Children in Kashmir – Read Details

Srinagar, 21 Nov (PK): In light of the prevailing foggy weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir, the Meteorological Department emphasizes the importance of face masks for school-going children and elderly individuals during morning and evening hours.

The directive comes as the Meteorological Department predicts the persistence of foggy weather conditions until November 27, 2023.

Meteorological Director Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad highlights the necessity for precautions, particularly for vulnerable groups. He anticipates generally clear to partly cloudy weather in most areas of J&K until November 22, with dry conditions prevailing.

The forecast suggests generally cloudy conditions with light rain or snow at isolated higher reaches on November 23.

From November 24 to 26, the Meteorological Department expects generally dry weather, followed by cloudy conditions with light rain or snow at isolated higher reaches from November 27 to 30.

Srinagar recently experienced the coldest night of the season, gripped by a cold wave. The Meteorological Department assures that no significant weather activity is expected until the end of November.

Minimum temperatures across the Kashmir division recorded a dip, with Konibal (-4.4°C), Pahalgam (-2.9°C), Gulmarg (-0.6°C), Kupwara (-0.8°C), Qazigund (-0.8°C), Banihal (2.8°C), and Srinagar (-1.2°C) being the coldest areas.

The Meteorological Department notes that shallow to moderate fog is likely to persist until November 27 over many places in the Kashmir division, urging residents to take necessary precautions during this period.
