Government of Shopian Issues Order to Restrict Social Media Content
In response to the escalating misuse of social media platforms for propagating terrorist and separatist ideologies, the Government of Shopian, under the leadership of District Magistrate Fazlul Haseeb, IAS, has issued a stringent order.
It has come to the attention of authorities that certain anti-national elements are exploiting social media networks to spread incendiary messages glorifying terrorism, intimidating the public, and inciting violence. The District Magistrate views these actions as a threat to state security, law and order, and public tranquility.
Exercising powers conferred by Section 144 of the Cr.P.C 1973, District Magistrate Haseeb prohibits the ‘posting,’ ‘uploading,’ or propagation of content that supports terrorism, spreads disaffection, and promotes hatred on religious grounds within the limits of District Shopian.
The order aims to curb activities that jeopardize the security and harmony of Shopian. Anti-national actions are deemed prejudicial to the well-being of the state, disrupting public order and tranquility.
Effective immediately, citizens are urged to comply with these restrictions to ensure the safety and stability of the region. Failure to adhere to this directive may result in legal consequences.
This decisive step by the authorities reflects a commitment to maintaining security and preventing the misuse of social media for activities detrimental to the state and its citizens.
