The Awantipora Police have taken action following a complaint filed by Shazia Akhter. She reported that her wedding reception, scheduled for September 16, 2023, with Fayaz Ahmad Dar, took an unexpected turn.attend

The couple had already performed the Nikah earlier, and preparations were in full swing for the reception when the groom, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, reportedly disappeared.

Allegedly, at the last moment, Fayaz Ahmad Dar and his father, Mohammad Shahban Dar, both residents of Kandizal Awantipora, called off the wedding reception, citing the groom’s refusal to attend.

This sudden turn of events has raised questions about the validity of the Nikah that had been previously conducted.

In response to Shazia Akhter’s complaint, the Awantipora Police have registered an FIR (First Information Report) No 182/2023 under sections 420 and 498(A) of the Indian Penal Code.

Both the groom and his father have been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding this incident.
