Srinagar, February 6th, 2023 – The General Administration Department of Jammu and Kashmir has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees who continue to receive their pay as per the 6th CPC revised rate. The existing rate of DA has been revised from 203% to 212% of the basic pay, effective from July 1st, 2022.

As per the government order (UO No. GAD-CORD/113/2021-09-GAD dated 27.01.2023), the payment of DA involving a fraction of 50 paisa or more will be rounded to the next higher rupee, while the fraction of less than 50 paisa will be ignored. Additionally, the arrears for the additional installment of DA from July, 2022 to January, 2023 will be paid in two equal installments in February and March 2023, and will form part of the monthly salary from February 2023 onwards.

The announcement is expected to benefit a large number of government employees who continue to receive their pay as per the 6th CPC revised rate. The increase in DA is a welcome step for these employees as it will help them cope with the rising cost of living.
