Doctors Deliver Baby in Kupwara’s Keran Using 3 Idiots Method

A delivery of a baby was accomplished without the presence of a gynecologist in the Keran area of Kupwara district in northern Kashmir, in a style inspired by the Bollywood film “3 Idiots.” Both the mother and the baby are reported to be in good health.

According to the BMO (Block Medical Officer) of Kralpora, Dr. M. Shafi, an expecting mother with labor pains was brought to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Keran, but due to inclement weather and the lack of a gynecologist on duty, it was impossible to transfer her to another hospital.

In order to manage the situation, the gynecologist from Kralpora PHC motivated the paramedical staff at PHC Keran through a WhatsApp call, encouraging them to perform the delivery. Despite initial reluctance, the staff managed to complete the delivery successfully, and both the mother and the baby have been discharged.

This is not the first time that emergency patients have been managed in this manner in Keran, as the region being at a high altitude frequently faces similar issues.
