The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has made it possible to access land records online, including Khewat Number, Khata Number, Khasra Number, and by owner name.

The recent update by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has caused concern among the local population, but the digital platform for checking land records is still accessible and simple to use.

Here is a step-by-step guide to check online land records in Jammu and Kashmir, including Khewat Number, Khata Number, Khasra Number, and by owner name:

Landrecords portal J&K

  • Go to the official website: https://landrecords.jk.gov.in/
  • Click on ‘Search Land Records’ on the homepage
  • Choose ‘Land Records (Scanned)’ for document search, view, download, movement, and history
  • Enter the district, tehsil, and village information
  • A list of land records will appear, choose the desired record to view
  • The land record will display the Khewat Number, Khata Number, Khasra Number, and the name of the owner.

Note: The recent order by the Lieutenant Governor has caused uncertainty about the future of certain types of land in Jammu and Kashmir, including Kahcharai and Shamilat, which are primarily used for community activities. The impact of the order on existing registered titles of land records and land under the Roshni Act is still under review at the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
