JKBOSE Adopts Rationalised Syllabi and Textbooks for Classes 9 to 12, in Line with NEP 2020 Guidelines

Srinagar, May 20 (PK) – The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has recently announced its decision to introduce rationalised syllabi and textbooks for Classes 9 to 12, starting from the current academic session. This move is in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to alleviate the content load on students.

A notification obtained by ProKashmiri (PK) states that the revised syllabi and textbooks have been designed following the pattern set by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) in New Delhi. The JKBOSE aims to implement the NEP 2020 guidelines, which emphasize the reduction of content in textbooks and the promotion of experiential learning with a creative approach.

“All concerned stakeholders are hereby informed that the rationalised syllabi and textbooks for Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12, aligned with the NCERT’s rationalisation process, will be implemented in all JKBOSE affiliated schools during the ongoing Academic Session 2023-24,” the notification affirms.

Additionally, the notification mentions that the modified syllabi, containing the deleted contents, will be made available on the JKBOSE website in the near future
