Jammu and Kashmir Government Identifies Over 26,000 Vacancies for Recruitment

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has identified more than 26,000 vacancies in various departments for recruitment in the current year. This could be good news for the state’s unemployed youth, as it provides a significant opportunity for them to secure employment.

Detailed Exercise Carried out by Government Departments

According to official sources, a detailed exercise has been carried out by various government departments to identify the vacancies. Most of the vacancies identified for recruitment during the current year are in the non-Gazetted cadre and Class-IV. The remaining vacancies will be for Gazetted officers. However, the exercise is still ongoing in some departments, and the number of vacancies might increase slightly in the coming days.

Recruitment Agencies to Initiate Filling up of Vacancies

Following clearance by the government, the vacancies will be referred to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB). The recruitment agencies will initiate the exercise for filling up the vacancies only after receiving a detailed note from the government. The General Administration Department will refer the vacancies to the PSC and JKSSB by April 1. Posts will be filled within the calendar year.

Vacancies to be Filled in Subsequent Years

Similar to the current year, departments will finalize vacancy positions in March and refer them to the General Administration Department, which will, in turn, send the vacancies to recruitment agencies by April 1. All efforts will be made to ensure that the vacancies advertised are filled up in the same year, with timelines fixed for written tests and other processes. The unemployed youth aspiring for government jobs will be well aware in advance about the vacancies for the year and will prepare themselves accordingly. However, if some vacancies are to be filled up in emergency mode, they will be an exception, and the number of such vacancies will be minimal.

“Significant” Opportunity for Unemployed Youth

Describing the filling up of 26,000 plus vacancies in government departments in less than a year as “significant,” sources said this will help the unemployed youth as vacancies pertain to all cadres, including Gazetted, non-Gazetted, and Class-IV.
