Umran Malik, the Indian cricketer known for his fast bowling skills, bowled a delivery that was clocked at an impressive speed of 156 km/hr during the first One Day International match between India and Sri Lanka.

Discrepancy in Broadcast Speeds

This speed was recorded and reported on the Hindi language broadcast of the match. However, when the same delivery was reported on the English language broadcast, it was recorded at a slightly lower speed of 145.7 km/hr, which represents a discrepancy of more than 10 km/hr.

Strong Performance

Regardless of the actual speed, Umran Malik had a strong performance in the match with 3 wickets and was the highest wicket-taker for India. The hosts won the match and lead the series 1-0.

Umran Malik is an Indian cricketer who is known for his fast bowling skills. He made his domestic debut in 2020 for Jammu and Kashmir in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was then named a short-term COVID-19 replacement for T. Natarajan by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 Indian Premier League. He made his international debut for the India cricket team in June 2022 against Ireland in T20I and in November 2022 against New Zealand in One Day International. He born and raised in the Gujjar Nagar area of Jammu. He is considered as India’s current fastest bowler.
