In the opening match of the season between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, Pakistan captain Babar Azam led his team against Imad Wasim’s side at the National Stadium in Karachi. The Kings won the toss and chose to field, putting Babar’s team into bat.
The match was notable for the showdown between Babar and Karachi Kings’ pacer Mohammad Amir, who had earlier made headlines by saying that he approached facing any batsman in the same way.
The first over saw Amir bowling to Babar, and the latter responded with a solid cover drive. In the sixth over, the two stars faced off again, with Amir bowling a delivery down the leg side. Babar took full advantage of the opportunity, flicking the ball to the boundary and increasing Amir’s frustration.
The game also saw youngster Muhammad Haris smashing Amir for a boundary in the first over. Karachi Kings, who have only reached the PSL final once, were looking to start their campaign with a win against Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi.
