Bharti Airtel Unveils New Prepaid Plan Featuring Free Netflix and 3GB Daily Data

In a strategic move to captivate the Indian mobile market, Bharti Airtel has silently introduced an exclusive prepaid plan priced at Rs 1499. This innovative offering integrates unlimited 5G data with a complimentary Netflix Basic subscription, making it a distinctive choice for prepaid users seeking high-speed internet coupled with Over-The-Top (OTT) benefits.

Despite the absence of an official announcement from Airtel, Telecom Talk has reported the addition of this new plan to both the website and mobile app. Let’s delve into the comprehensive details of Airtel’s Rs 1499 prepaid plan.

Airtel Rs 1499 Plan Overview

The newly launched Rs 1499 prepaid recharge plan by Airtel encompasses several attractive features. Subscribers to this plan enjoy 3GB of daily data, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day, all valid for a substantial 84-day period. Beyond these basic offerings, the plan includes a range of supplementary perks:

  • Complimentary Netflix Basic subscription
  • Unlimited 5G data access
  • Apollo 24|7 Circle membership
  • Free Hellotunes
  • Wynk Music access

It’s noteworthy that the standalone cost of a Netflix Basic subscription in India is Rs 199. Airtel, however, offers this subscription as a complimentary addition, enabling users to save on extra subscription costs.

Availing Netflix Benefits

To access the complimentary Netflix Basic subscription, Airtel prepaid subscribers can conveniently navigate to the ‘Discover Thanks Benefits’ section within the Airtel Thanks app. Once there, the Netflix benefit is prominently displayed. Users can then tap on the ‘Claim’ button, followed by a simple ‘Proceed’ confirmation, to activate the Netflix subscription on their mobile number.

Importantly, the bundled Netflix Basic subscription remains valid for the entire 84-day duration of the prepaid plan. As per Airtel’s policy, “For Prepaid, the benefit will continue as long as the customer stays on a Netflix eligible recharge & as per recharge validity.”

Airtel vs. Reliance Jio

While Airtel makes this bold move, its rival Reliance Jio also has two prepaid plans that include a Netflix subscription, catering to both mobile and larger-screen viewing preferences. The Rs 1,099 plan is designed for mobile users, offering unlimited 5G data, 2GB daily data, unlimited voice calling, and an 84-day validity. On the other hand, the Rs 1,499 plan provides unlimited 5G internet on compatible devices, also with an 84-day validity.

Both Jio plans include the advantage of the basic Netflix Mobile subscription. Users with existing Netflix accounts can seamlessly link them during the activation process. Until the account is linked, users will continue to be charged separately for their Netflix subscription.

These plans ensure a seamless viewing experience across a variety of devices, including mobiles, tablets, laptops, and larger screens like the Jio Set-top Box.
