Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority Issues Avalanche Warning

The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority has issued an avalanche warning for ten districts in the next 24 hours due to inclement weather conditions. The warning advised people living in these areas to take precautions and avoid venturing into avalanche prone areas.

According to the advisory, areas above 2500 meters above sea-level in Doda, Kishtwar, and Poonch districts are at a ‘High Danger Level’ for avalanches.

The advisory also noted that avalanches with ‘Medium Danger Level’ are expected to occur above 1500 to 2500 meters in Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Kulgam, and Ramban.

Lastly, avalanches with ‘Low Danger Level’ are expected above 1500 meters in Anantnag district.

Residents in these areas are urged to take necessary safety measures and avoid traveling to high-risk areas.
