Latest Weather Update: Heavy Snowfall Predicted for Jammu and Kashmir

It is expected that rain and snow will occur in most parts of Kashmir and Kargil today. There is a chance of rain and snow showers in a few areas of Leh and Jammu, particularly in the Chenab valley and areas near the Pir Panjal Range.

Rain and snow will begin at around 11 a.m. in the higher elevations of northern Kashmir, and will become more widespread in the late afternoon.

Its maximum intensity will be over parts of north Kashmir.

The low-lying areas of northern Kashmir are expected to receive a significant amount of snowfall, while heavier snowfall is expected in the higher elevations.

A moderate to heavy amount of snowfall is also expected in a few isolated areas of Ganderbal and Anantnag, particularly in the higher elevations.

Central and south Kashmir will generally see only light rain and snow, though it is possible that some areas may experience a moderate amount of precipitation.

Note: It can rain too in some plains.

Kargil may experience light to moderate snowfall, particularly in the afternoon. Some areas of Leh district may also see light snow showers.
