MeT Predicts Rain and Snow in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 27: The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has forecasted the possibility of light rain or snow across various locations in Kashmir towards the end of the month.

According to the MeT office, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy with isolated instances of light rain or snow on November 27 and 28. From November 29-30, there is a prediction of light precipitation at scattered to fairly widespread places in Jammu and Kashmir.

Looking ahead to December 1-5, the forecast suggests generally partly cloudy conditions,” according to the MeT office.

Cloud cover has led to a slight increase in minimum temperatures across many parts of Kashmir.

The forecast indicates a high probability of generally cloudy and dry weather over the next 24 hours.

The MeT office also mentioned that shallow to moderate fog is likely to persist until November 28 in many areas of the Kashmir division.

Srinagar recorded a low of 0.0°C today, slightly higher than the -1.0°C recorded the previous night, remaining -0.1°C below the seasonal norm.

The maximum temperature in Srinagar reached 14.5°C the previous day, exceeding the summer capital’s normal temperature by 0.7°C during this season.

Pahalgam retained its status as the coldest place in Kashmir, registering a low of -1.8°C today, up from -3.4°C recorded on Saturday, and staying 0.6°C above the tourist spot’s seasonal average.

Qazigund reported a minimum of 0.6 °C, while Kokerng settled at 1.5°C for the second consecutive day.

Kupwara experienced a low of -0.7°C, slightly below the -0.5°C recorded earlier, and remained -0.2°C below the seasonal norm for the northern Kashmir district.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 0.5°C today, up from -1.0°C the previous night, marking a 2.6°C deviation above the normal temperature for the ski resort.
